Where Fitness Meets Fun!

Hula Dance
Discover the beauty of Hawaiian dance. Learn about the ancient culture of Hawai'i through the art of traditional Hula. You will learn one or two Hula from the instructor, who is an accomplished dancer of a traditional Halau in Hawai'i. Included are the words and translation of songs taught, music and dance notes. Appropriate for women of evey age, size, skill level, and background. Unlike the Polynesian style dancers featured in movies and tourist attractions, we follow traditional culture which values modesty in dress and movement.

Meet BellaDonna
Andrea's stage name is BellaDonna. She has been dancing for several years and has danced with troupes in the Northern Virginia area, at the Middle Eastern Dance Festival - Rakassa - in New Jersey, and at private functions. Her style is eclectic, with an appreciation for Egyptian orientation.
BellaDonna teaches Belly Dance as a form of fitness training and feminine expression. BellaDonna performs at parties and social events. If you are looking for something special, a classy, tasteful, and beautiful dance by a professional would be a spectacular addition to your celebration.
What is Belly Dance? Where did it come from?
Oriental Dance (Belly Dance) has been around for thousands of years, originating in Egypt and Turkey. Belly Dance is typically done by women and feature hip, pelvic, chest and abdominal articulation. We subscribe to the theory that due to segregation of the sexes, Belly Dance began and was performed by women for women - socializing and preparing for childbirth.
Belly Dance for Every Woman
Beyond Wellness has Belly Dance opportunities for the everyday woman - no matter your size, age or skill level. Our Introduction Class teached the novice the basic moves - some circles, slides, 8s and shimmies. Bellydance Routines is the place to learn dances and prepare for the Suburban Gypsies. Bellydance Workout is a great place to dance and sweat.
Suburban Gypsies
In addition to the dance classes offered at the studio (see classes page for details), Beyond Wellness has a wonderful dance troupe - The Suburban Gypsies, led by Andrea Howard - Bella Donna. We are a group of diverse ages, sizes, and backgrounds. We come together to dance and share our new-found skills with others; because we enjoy it so much, our audience delights in the energy and sheer beauty of this dance.
Call 571-229-5185 to schedule a performance of the Suburban Gypsies. We specialize in community events, festivals, and fairs.

Dance
Here's what satisfied dancers are saying: "From the very beginning of the very first class I was pleased with many happy discoveries: Andrea's goal of teaching us to respect and celebrate each and every woman's unique qualities (including personality and body size and shape). The movements not only look feminine and beautiful (which is terrific in and of itself), but it feels very good to move my body in such a fluid, natural, almost free-spirited way." - Brenda
